Transportation & Infrastructure

Opportunity:
Revise Kentucky’s transportation, transit and water related infrastructure investment strategies so that adequate and equitable investments are made in Northern Kentucky, one of the state’s major economic centers.

Approach:

  1.  Base Kentucky’s road funding formula on a system that considers the number of vehicles using each road and the vehicle miles traveled on each road.
  2.  Provide 20 percent state matching funds (approximately $15 million annually) for the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor.
  3.  Develop a strategy to increase air service at CVG that will bring new business and recreational travels to our airport.
  4.  Support sustainable funding for Northern Kentucky’s existing transit system and allow local governments, not the state, to set the amount of capped income subject to transit funding.
  5. Provide reliable funding solutions to address unfunded mandates and aging infrastructure repair/replacement and the associated construction of water, wastewater, and storm water infrastructure to reduce funding gaps and protect both the local economy and environment.
